This family vacation home sits in a meadow on the shores of Sooke Bay. The plan is organized around sun, views and shelter from wind. Living spaces open south to views of the ocean and north to a semi-enclosed courtyard that receives afternoon and evening sun. A private pavilion, containing the master suite and art gallery, is linked to the main house by a narrow entry hall. Spanning the two volumes is a lightweight timber roof that shelters a south-facing patio and collects rainwater for use in the courtyard garden.
